Do Thoughts Control our Reality?

Hi everyone, welcome back to my blog!! Today I will be contemplating about thoughts and whether they control our actions, the things that come into our lives and even who we are as a person.

As someone who has grown up with a very spiritual family, I was always told to not think negatively because that's what I'll bring into my life. I never really understood this concept until I understood more about the law of attraction. It really surprised me when I found out how much of spirituality is based on science and I finally was able to believe and open my mind to many more spiritual and philosophical concepts.

What is the Law of Attraction?

The law of attraction is the idea that like attracts like and that dislike attracts dislike. The idea that your thoughts become your reality. The law of attraction tells us that we can reprogram our subconscious mind to give us whatever our heart desires.
Your subconscious mind is known to be one of the most powerful things in the world as it can quite literally change your life.

The Placebo Effect

The placebo effect (in psychology) is when there is an improvement of symptoms despite using a non-active treatment. Scientific studies have shown that the placebo effect can ease things like fatigue, pain, and depression.
For example, in 2015 an experiment was conducted with 35 people who had depression. The participants were not taking any medication at the time of the experiment.
They were all given two medications, one was labeled as the fast active antidepressant (active placebo) and the other was labeled as the placebo (inactive placebo) and each group took the pills for a week.
After a week, a PET scan was taken to show brain activity. During the scan, the group which took the active placebo got a placebo injection and got told it would make their mood better; the group taking the inactive placebo didn't get an injection. The groups then switched pill types for a week and another PET scan was taken at the end of the week.
All participants then received treatment with antidepressants for 10 weeks.
After the experiment was completed, researchers found that there was a decrease in depression symptoms in the group that was taking the active placebo. Taking the active placebo, including the injection, showed an increase in areas of the brain which are related to the regulation of emotions and stress. These people had a better response to the antidepressants than the group with the inactive placebo.

Correlation Between the Placebo Effect and the Law of Attraction

As you can see from the above study, the placebo effect is real and there are many more medical cases that prove it. The placebo effect is essentially one way to manifest things into your life, which is the law of attraction. Believing that you have something, may it be a physical item or a quality within you, can basically bring it to you. It shows that your thoughts influence your reality which controls who you are.

Indian Philosophical Roots of Manifestation

In India and many other Eastern cultures, there is a concept of Karma. The idea of Karma is you reap what you sow, therefore, how you act or whatever you do will always come back to you. This idea encourages many who follow Hinduism to think positively and act grateful and kind to themselves and others around you as that is what will come back to you.

Final Thoughts

In conclusion, I personally do believe in the idea that thoughts control who we are and I believe that our thoughts can change our life because our mind is such a powerful tool. Obviously, many of these ideas are very controversial and not everyone will have the same opinions as me, however, as someone who has grown up with a culture that may seem a bit out there for some people, I know that it does reassure many that there is scientific proof behind what they read in Indian philosophy.

I hope you enjoyed this week's post! Stay tuned next week to learn multiple methods for manifestation in your life, love you guys, and see you next week <33
