Prose

Hey guys, I hope everyone is well! I’m currently on my half term holidays for two weeks and so far it’s the best. I’ve been taking a bit of a break from my usual hectic school life, I’ve actually managed to clean my room, cleanse my crystals and light some incense. I’ve been feeling a bit more like myself lately. Also my lacrosse county tournament went really well last Thursday, I was worried that I wouldn’t play as well because training and previous matches hadn’t been the best but we ended up winning all aside from one of our matches and I also got player of the tournament!! I think I might have found my mojo again haha. Honestly, I’ve had no idea what to write about today and I’ve been so tired lately because I’ve been catching up with all the sleep I lost during school so I thought I’d just post a bit of prose I wrote a while ago about winter seeing as the weather’s getting cooler and the skies are getting darker.

A Winter in Paris

I woke up early in the morning to the sound of birds singing and dark skies which I somewhat found very appealing, the sun was just starting to rise so I could see small hints of oranges, yellows and hues of red peaking through the thick layer of clouds. I decided to get dressed in something very warm as there was a blanket of snow covering the rooftops of the small boutiques and houses; the Eiffel Tower had been frosted all over and the scene looked straight out of a fairy tale. I put on my long winter coat that makes me feel powerful and a knitted beret which makes me fit in and left to go to work. As I stepped outside, I could hear the satisfying crunch of the first step taken in a fresh area of snow. It took a little getting used to walking on the icy pavements, but it is always worth it when you walk down bijou lanes with a romantic ambience. The comforting smell of freshly baked goods and strong espresso coffees hit me when I open the door with the familiar sound of the small bell ringing. I went up and ordered my usual, a hot coffee with steamed milk and a pain au chocolat. I thanked the kind-hearted lady who I meet every morning and decided to give her a slightly larger tip as I was feeling rather generous. Since I was quite early for work, I decided to go to my absolute favourite place to enjoy my breakfast, it is a small and lesser known are in Paris, but I hope it stays that way. The chilly breeze hit me again but all the coldness in my body dissolved when I took a sip of the warm, sweet coffee. I sat on the rooftop garden in Trocadero and saw the final moments of the sun rising behind the Eiffel Tower. Once I had finished my breakfast, I had decided it was finally time to depart the charming surroundings and it was time to get to work. Since I am a student at the royal ballet, I only have a part time job, but it is the best part time job I could ask for. I work at a small boutique right in the centre of Paris. It is quite a long walk so I normally take the metro, however, the mix of the cold weather and golden sun made me want to walk. Since it is 9:00, it is quite busy, I try to weave my way through the crowd who are all dressed as if it is fashion week, frantically making calls and rushing to work and after a successful attempt, I finally arrive at my destination, L’avant Garde. I make my way to the back and carefully place my coat, so it does not get ruined with everyone else’s snowy, wet coats and then get the mannequins from the window. I slowly walk around the shop trying to find the best winter chic items and make sure that even the mannequins do not stand out in this fashion capital. After a few short hours I slowly make my way to ballet class, we are putting on a show of the nutcracker and I think it fits perfectly with the wintery atmosphere in this magical city I live in.

I hope you guys enjoyed this week’s post. I know it is much shorter than normal but for some reason I’ve had such a writers block, even my essays haven’t been sounding the best. Hopefully I’ll be back to writing somewhat interesting and helpful posts next week, I hope everyone has an amazing day and rest of the week, love you <33
