Why Fictional Men Always Win.

Hey everyone, welcome back!! This is meant to be a pre-valentine's post. Knowing me, I'd probably write about how you should love yourself but recently I've been so unbelievably insecure. I've been feeling like no matter how much I work, I never seem to be good at anything. Whether this be school, lacrosse, dance, practically anything. I ended up playing really badly at a match on Saturday and no matter what anyone says, I know I should have been better. This mindset has been throwing me off my game (literally) and I've struggled to do anything or even just get through life. Overall, I've been super down in the dumps. I decided to do what every other 17 year old would do when they feel upset so I deep cleaned my entire room. I have never seen my room look this clean ever and it sounds weird but I find cleaning super therapeutic. Sitting in a clean room also makes me feel like I've managed to achieve something good after what feels like forever. While I feel a bit better, I'm still not sure I'd be able to write an entire post on self love when I've been feeling the opposite lately, so, have a post about me talking about my fictional husbands, because who needs real men anyways? Also just a heads up, there might be spoilers but I'll try to keep them on the down low.

William Herondale (The Infernal Devices) - HE IS THE OG BADBOY WITH DARK HAIR AND BLUE EYES. Will Herondale has actually set the blueprint and I am convinced all toxic badboys with daddy issues are written after him. Not only would he kill the entire world if something would happen to the love of his life but he'd also make it VERY clear to ensure nothing like that happens again. His high cheekbones, long, thick eyelashes and full lips can make me swoon ANYDAY. He was probably one of my first book husbands so he'll always have a special place in my heart.

Aaron Blackford (The Spanish Love Deception) -  Oh my gosh where do I even start with him, he learnt Spanish just to communicate with Catalina's family, he bought her 5 tacos even though she asked for 4 tacos, he BROKE one of the beds in the room they shared. He really said 'if that author doesn't make a one bed trope, I will'. Ok, not literally but I'm sure that's what he was thinking. Furthermore, the enemies to lovers in this book makes me want to cry it's so perfect, the balance of sarcasm and tension has me screaming at the book. All in all, Aaron is THE MAN.

Mr Darcy (Pride and Prejudice) - Ok, aside from his 10,000 a year (kidding I'm not a gold digger lol) this man is simply perfection. I know I would probably say that about any man written by a women but honestly he's just perfect. I lowkey vibe with the introvertedness and THE CONFESSION. I would genuinely die if a boy told me 'you have bewitched me, body and soul, and I love... I love.. I love you. I never wish to be parted from you from this day on.' *faints* or also his other confession 'I have fought against judgement, my family's expectation, the inferiority of your birth, my rank. I will put them aside and ask you to end my agony. I love you. Most ardently. Please do me the honour of accepting my hand.' Before anyone says anything, I have not memorised the ENTIRE book, just the pretty bits. OH MY GOD THIS MAN SPEAKS IN POETRY MARRY ME RIGHT NOW.

Etienne St. Clair (Anna and the French Kiss) - Frstly, this book needs WAY more recognition. I remember my friend from India recommended it to me and I read it in one sitting. Frankly, Paris is the most romantic place and to be part French and completely in love with a girl? No wonder he's the perfect boy. He's just so kind and soft, I want to hug him. AND HE BLUSHES which is the cutest thing ever. The things I'd do to have him are crazy, he is the man of everyone's dreams. I'm pretty sure he is part English and he really does set the standard because I have never met an English boy who is as sweet and as honest as him. After all of the toxic fictional badboys I'm in love with, it's refreshing to have at least one book boy who isn't a douche.

Maxon Schreave (The Selection series) - He is the prince that 5 year old me thought I'd be married to by the time I was 16. Much to my dismay, I am 17 and not married to a prince so I have resorted to reading about them. He is yet another boy who isn't toxic but he keeps up the banter with America which I really like. He also took America round the flower gardens which literally makes me want to cry, it's so nice when book boys show their vulnerable side. *sigh* I just really want to marry a prince like Maxon.

Levi Ackermann (Attack on Titan) - Aside from a slight limiting factor that he's a solid 6 inches shorter and 22 years older than me (he's 5'2" and 39 oops) I just love that he'd literally go kill titans for you and would definitely fight off creepy men. He is so powerful and talented and he's also a clean freak. Get yourself a man who cooks and cleans for you. Lastly, THE UNDERCUT. The undercut is so legendary and he is just such an icon.

Rock Lee (Naruto) - Not only is this boy one of the most talented shinobi in Naruto, he is also super adorable. He spent way too long pining after Sakura who didn't even appreciate it. I'm not even joking, Rock Lee would do anything in his power to make his girl happy. He definitely seems like a feminist and seems like the kind of guy who'd teach you how to fight off bad people which we stan. I don't really know how to feel about his hair, it kind of makes him look like a mushroom. Then again, I remind myself that every Asian kid had a bowl cut at some point in their life (unfortunately, including me). He is probably one of the best boys in Naruto.

Izumi Miyamura (Horimiya) - Oh my gosh I don't even know where to start. Firstly, there is definitely something about the outcasts in school tropes, they always end up being the best people and Miyamura is no exception. He started off kind of quiet but when he met Hori, he became a whole new person. Not only does he stand up for her (even though she can definitely do it herself) he also let's her be in charge which I find super cute. We love boys who seem mean to the world but have a soft spot for you. Also, THE GLOW UP. The day he started tying his hair back to show off his piercings really made me love him even more and don't even get me started on the tattoos scattered all over his torso. He is perfection.

Jaxon Cage (Path to Redemption series) - I cannot even begin to start with my obsession with books that have a sports trope. Jaxon is the ideal badboy boxer who'll do anything possible to make you happy. His daughter, Lizzie, is the cutest and we get to see so many sides of him because of her. He is the best single dad ever. He's the perfect balance of physical strength and emotional strength. He teaches Emily how to fight and it really makes me want to fall in love with a boxer, even though my 'type' is intellectual, introverted boys who'd go on random adventures with me and have deep conversations while stargazing. He is one of the many fictional men I am in love with and even my friends fell for him after reading the books.

Ok, I think I should end it here because we all know I've read an unhealthy amount of books and watched too much anime so this could never end. I was going to add in some Disney princes but then I realised they deserve a whole separate post for themselves hahaha. I guess the main thing is that although looks are described in fiction, what we really like about fictional characters are the words they say and the slightest actions they do. Honestly, looks will never be important to me because the one thing all fictional men have in common is how they feel about their love which is just utterly beautiful. I hope everyone has a really good week and Valentine's Day, love you <33
